We ask God’s forgiveness for our sins through the sacrament of Reconciliation. Private confession is available every Saturday at 11:00 am until the last person is finished. Communal penance services take place during Advent and Lent.
First Reconciliation is celebrated by children in the second grade in preparation for First Eucharist, receiving the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time. Catechetical preparation is given through our Religious Education Program or in a Catholic school.
Holy Eucharist is celebrated at Mass as we receive Jesus in the consecrated bread and the Precious Blood. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are specially trained to assist in distributing Communion during Mass and to bring Eucharist to the sick and homebound.
First Eucharist is celebrated during the Easter season and catechetical preparation is given through our Religious Education Program or in a Catholic school.
In Confirmation, young adults receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit like the Apostles at Pentecost. Confirmed members, with the help of the Holy Spirit, continue to evangelize others and build up the Body of Christ.

In a sacramental marriage, a man and a woman make a lifelong gift of themselves to each other. Newly engaged couples are asked to contact one of the parish priests at least six months in advance of their wedding day.
Along with setting the date, the priest will provide initial contact for the marriage preparation program. There are several options for engaged couples. The first step is to schedule an appointment with one of our priests or deacons and a list of marriage prep options will be made available.
Pre-Marriage Classes are listed on the Diocesan page here.
To obtain the Church’s blessing of a marriage that was not Catholic can be relatively easy. Regardless of why couples marry outside the Church and later seek the church’s blessing, the benefits of convalidation are enormous: peace of heart, oneness with the church, reception of the Sacrament of Matrimony, and God’s special blessing upon the marriage. Make an appointment with Fr. Tim, Deacon Francis, or Deacon Rick to discuss the situation and determine what must be done. Call 412-486-4100.
The anointing of the sick is a healing sacrament. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of the illness is sufficient. When the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is celebrated, God heals the recipient, either physically, emotionally, or spiritually. In this sacrament, the believer receives the Holy Spirit's gift of peace and courage to deal with the difficulties that accompany serious illness or the frailty of old age. Please call the administrative center at 412-486-4100 to request a priest for this healing sacrament.
